Legendary playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam passed away COVID-19 Complications.

Veteran playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam succumbed to the Covid-19 virus on Friday at 1:04pm at a private hospital in Chennai.He was 74 years old.


Balasubrahmanyam tested positive for Covid-19 on August and hence was admitted to the MGM Healthcare. His health was initially well and good however his health deteriorated following which he had to be supported with the ventilator and ECMO.Even after testing negative for Covid on September 7, he still continued to be in ventilation as he did not recover.

However on 25 September, he breathed his last after several health complications.He is survived by his wife and a son and daughter who are also playback singer.

Popularly known as SPB, made his debut in 1966 with a Telegu film and since then he had contributed over 40,000 songs to the entertainment industry in over 16 languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

SPB bagged his first national award for Sankarabharanam and have continued receiving appreciation for his works.

His demise is another great loss for the industry during this year.
