GMCH Installs Two Oxygen Tanks, to Replace Cylinders

GUWAHATI:
The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has installed two oxygen tanks which are set to replace the usage of the normal oxygen cylinders. The tank consists of liquid oxygen which will supply oxygen directly to the cabins with a substation regulating the pressure.

The installation is supposed to be completed within 7 days, as per sources.

Media spoke to Achyut C Baishya, Principal of GMCH who confirmed the installation saying, "The tank will replace the existing usage of the individual cylinders. Its capacity is 20 kilo litre."

On the issue of the expected rollout of operation, he said, "I can't exactly tell you the date as it is under process."

The move comes after the high demands of oxygen rose due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

As per sources, the oxygen tank will last for 10 days after one refill. It will also save a lot of time as due to the current demands, the state-run hospital orders cylinders at least 4 to 5 times per day.
