Foundation for Karbi and Dimasa Bhawans laid in New Delhi

New Delhi :  Union Home Minister Amit Shah in presence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid the foundation stone of Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan at Dwarka in New Delhi today. 


Speaking on the occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the present Central government is committed to the all-round development of North East. Contrary to the previous government’s policy of giving hollow assurances, the present Narendra Modi led government at the Centre has attached unprecedented importance for the development of Assam and other North eastern states. The Union Minister also said that to facilitate equal development of all sections of people living in Assam and other North Eastern states, NDA government is working dedicatedly. 

While speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Today is a historic day for the Karbi and Dimasa people of Assam. I am immensely delighted to be a part of this momentous occasion that symbolizes the compassion and commitment of the NDA Government towards the welfare of the people of north east and faster development of the region”. Laying the foundation of Karbi and Dimasa Bhawans will enable people belonging to hills of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao along with the people of the plains to stay in New Delhi and do their jobs, Sonowal retorted. Stating that true to Prime Minister Modi’s reiteration of terming North East as the ‘Astalaxmi’ and New Engine of growth, Chief Minister Sonowal said that laying foundation stone of Karbi and Dimasa Bhwans in New Delhi is yet another example of centre’s initiative of fulfilling aims and aspirations to the people of the region. Sonowal also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for giving all help for the growth and development of North East which according to him will give a new momentum of its progress. 


Chief Minister Sonowal also said that for the safety, security and integrity of the nation, the steps taken by the present Central Government deserves all appreciation. The recent constitutional amendment would lead to EkBidhan, Ek Nishan Ek Pradhan (one constitution, one flag and one premier), the chief minister added. On the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of Karbi and Dimasa Bhawan, Sonowal congratulated CEM of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa and CEM of KarbiAnglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang. These two bhawans will strengthen the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Bharat Shrehtha Bharat’ doctrine. 

Union Minister in charge of DoNERDr. Jitendra Singh, Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarmah also spoke on the occasion. Union Minister of State for Food Processing RameswarTeli, Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KarbiAnglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of Dima HasaoAutonomous Council DebolalGorlosa, former Union Minister Bijoya Chakraborty and a host of dignitaries were present on the occasion.
