Inauguration of the Permanent Campus of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam on March 25


Dispur, March 23: The permanent campus of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam will be ceremonially inaugurated on March 25, 2017 at the permanent premises of the University at Amingoan, Kamrup.
The ceremony will be graced by several dignitaries including Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court viz. Mr. Justice J Chelameswar, Mr. Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Mr. Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Mr. Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Mr. Justice Amitava Roy along with Hon’ble Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and other Hon’ble Judges.
It is noteworthy that, the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) has been established by the Government of Assam by way of enactment of the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009). The Hon'ble Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the University. The University started regular classes in September, 2011 from the temporary campus at the North East Judicial Officers Training Institute (NEJOTI) building at Ulubari, Guwahati. The university offers Five Year Integrated B.A.,LLB (Hons) Course, One Year LLM Degree Programme and Ph.D Degree Programme. The first batch of the B.A., LL.B(Hons) Course has successfully completed their graduation in the year 2016.
The permanent campus is located at Amingoan in the Kamrup district spread over an area of approximately 150 bighas. The campus mainly comprises of the administrative building, the academic building and also residence for the students with state-of-the-art facilities. The residential facilities for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the University will also be part of the permanent campus to be constructed in the next phase.
