Katrina Kaif: 'Baar Baar Dekho is a very important film for me'

With couple of duds in the recent past, Katrina Kaif is leaving no stone un-turned in promoting her upcoming releaseBaar Baar Dekho, directed by debutante director Nitya Mehra.

Along with her co-star, Sidharth Malhotra, she’s going all out taking the film to different cities and promoting it in the most quirky way possible.

Katrina candidly elaborates, “It’s definitely very tiring and hectic but Baar Baar Dekho is a very important film for me. My previous release, Fitoor was not very well received at the box office and that was definitely heart breaking. This makes all the more important to me that I once again come with a strong film that gets audiences’ love.”

While Katrina was saw raging success for over half a decade (with a string of hit films), it was the sudden gap between her releases that was the reason for people trying to write her off, despite the fact that only two of her films, Phantomand Fitoor failed at the box office.

To add to that, the media has only been talking only about her personal life. “It is the media’s decision to speak what they feel is important at that particular time, I can’t question the media’s decision. Yes, I agree that last two years I have had fewer releases, I had only Bang Bang and Fitoor and that is significantly less. My priorities were on other things and it’s every person’s right to focus on different things. It was a conscious decision for me to take it little slowly,” she says.

"But having said that, even now, I don’t know the pace with which I want to work. I will go by the films offered to me. If something excites and challenges me as a person, as an actor then that is the right reason for me to pick the film. If I get three great scripts at once I will do all three films together. If I get just one film and if I think that one is amazing I will do just that one film,” says the actress.

Katrina's career seems to be looking up and if reports are to be believed, she is likely to be teamed with Fawad Khan for Karan Johar’s next under Dharma Productions, to be directed by debutant director Aditya Dhar.

Further, speculations are rife that she will share screen space with Salman Khan once again in the sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, which is tentatively titled Tiger Zinda Hai to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and possibly also be part of Atul Agnihotri and A R Murugadoss’s next.

Katrina clarifies, “I have not announced any of my films as yet. There are discussions happening right now with few different people on different projects but nothing is announced yet.”

Does she feel like she had a sympathy factor working for her, post her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor?

Katrina says, “I don’t think anyone gets sympathy in breakup. I think breakups are tragic, breakups are painful, end of any relationship leads to devastating time for everyone involved. I don’t think it is a matter of sympathy or not sympathy or a matter of support.”
