'Happy Bhaag Jayegi' faces censor board roadblock in Pakistan

Though the reviews for the Diana Penty, Abhay Deol, and Jimmy Shergill starer Happy Bhaag Jayegi have mostly been on the positive side, the film is yet to be released in Pakistan.

The film, has Happy, played by Diana Penty running off to Karachi on her wedding day. What happens next is a series of misadventures that involve the three lead protagonists.

Though the film has generated interest across the border, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of Pakistan could not reach a unanimous decision over the fate of the film. The film might be slapped with an official ban if the officials are not able to reach an unanimous verdict.

“The full board had approved the film for public viewing with an 8:1 ratio in favour of the film,” CBFC Chairperson Mobashir Hasan told The Express Tribune.

"Under the Motion Pictures Ordinance of 1979 and Censorship of Film Rules act of 1980, the ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage has the right review the board's decision," he explained.

The film also stars Pakistani actor Momal Sheikh, who was set to make her Bollywood debut with this film. Momal Sheikh, who is already a very popular television actress, plays Abhay Deol's fiancee in the film.
