Minister Rajnath Singh conducts aerial survey of flood affected areas in Assam
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met the family members of those affected by the floods at Bhagatgaon relief camp in in Morigaon district of Assam.They conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga on Saturday. The rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra River has made the condition of Assam very critical and many districts have been submerged. Assam floods situation critical, Death toll rises to 35
At least 35 people have died and about 18 lakh have been affected so far in Assam floods with many rivers flowing above the danger mark. More than 2 lakh people have taken shelter at 517 relief camps at different places. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited several places across the state to take stock of flood situation. He instructed the authorities to speed up relief measures. NDRF and SDRF teams have been rushed to all flood-affected districts to carry out rescue and relief works, the disaster management department said.
